“MRI Results” or “I Guess There’s No Competing in My Near Future”

The MRI results came back and it turns out I have a few herniated discs in my neck and two tears in my shoulder.  Awesome.  The next step is to meet with a pain management specialist for my neck and an orthopedic specialist for my shoulder.  Double awesome.

I thought this was going to be my year to compete.  I was stoked and ready.  Then, I got in a car wreck and my aspirations were temporarily dashed.  Oh well.  The old cliche` says, “It could always be worse.”  And you know what?  It’s true.

Instead of focusing on my own training, I’m just going to throw myself into coaching and taking everyone around me to the next level.  I want my athletes to out-perform me.  It means I’m doing my job as a coach.

We’re starting an 8 week challenge at 1960 CrossFit, the gym I own.  Each coach gets a team of 4 competitors.  Over the course of 8 weeks, we’ll hold our team super accountable; giving them homework tailored to their specific goals, holding private coaching sessions with our team, ensuring their success.  At the end of the 8 weeks, the teams will compete against one another in an in-house competition.  We’re drawing names on Sept 14th.  I can’t wait to see who’s on my team!  I’m so determined to win this thing help my team win this thing!

So, while my workouts are temporarily on hold (and by hold I mean not lifting too heavy and no handstand push-ups), I will be educating myself to become a better coach and will hopefully lead my Lean Turkey team to victory!  I guess I get to compete after all 🙂
