The first part of the day was incredibly challenging. I felt insanely strong hunger pangs. I started questioning the point of the fast. I smelled the kids’ Sonic Wacky Pack Chicken and thought about Chad’s KFC fail. I started craving mashed potatoes and fried chicken. It was brutal.
And then I prayed.
After that, the hunger just sort of went away. I felt a sense of peace, and I realized that my cravings were more emotional than physical. It’s interesting the things you learn about yourself during a fast.
